Covid-19 Policies and Procedures
Adjustment and Precautions
Class sizes have been reduced to ensure that that students can spread out in the rooms.
Temperatures will be taken each day at check in. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or over will be sent home. Student will not be able to return until they have been fever free for 48 hours.
By sending your child to classes, parents are showing good faith that a student has not had symptoms and that no one in their household is having symptoms of Covid.
Additional storage has been provided for students to each have their own cubby while at Spark to keep personal items separated.
The staff will be cleaning and wiping down shared surfaces, door handles, bathrooms, etc. We will provide hand sanitizer at check in and out.
Additional hand sanitizing stations have been added to each classroom and bathroom.
Two sinks have been installed in the art room to provide additional hand washing stations.
Only students, teachers, and a small staff will be allowed into the building at this time. As much as we will desperately miss our community being able to gather and socialize, for the safety of our students, we cannot allow any additional people in the building. You may wait in your car during classes if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Students will be checked in for class at the door and then go directly to their classroom.
Productions and Performance Safety Modifications:
Cast sizes have been reduced
Audiences will be limited to ensure social distancing until further notice
Audience members are required to wear masks
Students will not be released to the Lobby to greet guests. Audiences will have to exit the building and students will be released to parents through our usual carpool pick-up procedures.
All performances will be recorded to allow family and friends access to see the performances.
Performances and shows will be professionally recorded as a contingency if live performances are prohibited.
Policy on Masks
The following is an excerpt from the executive order on masks from our governor. We have emboldened verbiage that is particularly applicable to Spark students.
Every person in Texas shall wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when
inside a commercial entity or other building or space open to the public, or when in an outdoor public space, wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household; provided, however, that this face-covering requirement does not apply to the following:
any person younger than 10 years of age;
any person with a medical condition or disability that prevents wearing a face covering;
any person while the person is consuming food or drink, or is seated at a restaurant to eat or drink;
any person while the person is (a) exercising outdoors or engaging in physical activity outdoors, and (b) maintaining a safe distance from other people not in the same household.

Spark procedures with regard to masks:
We encourage our students over the age of ten to wear a face mask while checking in and leaving Spark, and any other time that it is not feasible to give proper distance from others.
Due to limited class sizes, it is our belief that we will be able to spread out and give space between students and teachers. While in class students may remove their masks as long as parents have given permission to do so. *We do not guarantee that social distancing will be practiced at all times by all children. We will do our best to encourage creative cooperation in this matter.
Each parents will need to sign a waiver stating that their child is allowed to remove their masks at Spark. Students will be given a green wristband. If you would prefer that your child keep their mask on the entire time that they are at Spark, they will be given a red wristband so that Spark staff will know to help remind students to keep their masks on.
Spark will also have face shields available for purchase at a nominal fee for students who would like to opt for face shields in lieu of masks.
Dancers will not be required to wear masks in class while exercising. This also applies to many of our theatre classes where dancing will be involved in the curriculum.
Teachers and staff are encouraged to wear a mask or face shield at check in.
*Please remember that medical exemptions apply to this executive order. We ask that our community show respect to individuals who are not wearing a mask and not ask for proof or explanation. Spark staff is asking that each participant and staff member sign a waiver and will be fully aware of each individual case, however, we ask that you respect the privacy of individuals and families in this matter.
