Updates:
November 4th:
Why did it take so long to put up tickets for sale and release detailed information?
Hello! I want to thank all of your for being patient with us not getting detailed information out to the cast. There is a reason we have been waiting . . . WE HAVE CHANGED VENUES. We want to thank our original venue, Geronimo, for being willing to let us do this show on their property. We had big plans to creatively transform their park to “set the stage” for our show. However, when we started to make plans for our show months ago, Geronimo did not have power on their property but we were confident that they would have power by the time the show went up. Due to delays from Covid, the permitting is still not approved and unfortunately, they still do not have power. We were working through plans to use generators and had planned to move forward AS WE ALWAY DO. However, a few weeks ago we came upon another alternative that is going to be much more workable for our show. We felt it was worth putting off the finalizing of our schedule to go ahead and try to work something out with the new venue so that we could avoid some of the major obstacles. I hope you can see that we really have been working very hard behind the scenes to make this the best possible experience for our students, their families, and our community!
The owners of Geronimo, the Snideman and the Adams families, are Spark families and we want to support them in their venture. Please check them out! geronimoadventurepark.com.
Where is the new venue?
The new venue is called The Grounds at 1488. www.thegrounds1488.com. They are located at 11510 Farm to Market Rd 1488, Magnolia, TX 77354. The Grounds is a new venture for an artistic community in NW Houston and we are excited to support and empower their plans to create an outdoor venue for artists. We love their vision and are excited to be a part of it. We realize that this is further for many of you. However, it is closer for others. We are planning to arrange a carpool from Spark to help ease the pain of the extra drive. We apologize for the inconvenience but we hope that you will trust that this is the best decision for our show.
Inclement WEather Plan
In the likely event that we will have rain or mud during the run of our show, we will be holding the show at Spark. Masks will be required for audience members and patrons will be admitted at 50% capacity. Each cast will have a tech rehearsal both at Spark and at the outdoor venue.
What about tickets, seating, capacity, etc?
Tickets are now posted on our homepage! We are releasing 60 tickets to sell online for each show. The limit of 60 per show is mostly due to the possibility of having to hold the show at Spark. We may be able to release more tickets to shows “at the door” when we know that the show will be held outside. We are going to have chairs, benches, and room for people to sit on blankets. (No Camping Chairs).
There are no limits to the amount of tickets per cast member per show. Please reserve your tickets as soon as possible. Some shows may sell out.
Concessions
We are really excited about our plans for concessions. We will be selling food and treats that can be eaten during the show since this is outside! No outside food or drinks.
Discounted or Free Tickets
Unfortunately, we cannot offer free tickets to shows. This is our only show this year! Can you believe that?! Spark still has a long way to go to recover from being closed for 8 months.
Videoing the Show
We are making plans to video both shows and they will be made available for purchase.
Volunteers
We do need volunteers and will be sending out a sign up ASAP!
Sweatshirts
We have not placed orders yet for sweatshirts. We have to have a minimum of 24. IT”S NOT TOO LATE TO ORDER!
Rehearsals next week
Please look over the last update for rehearsal times and costume basic information! Thanks!
Please let us know if you have any questions. Contact inspire@sparktx.org or 281-516-8382
Hello! We are just two weeks away from our show. I know you have a lot of questions and we appreciate your patience as we have worked out logistics for our outdoor performances. We still have a couple of hurdles to overcome before we publish tickets but we wanted to give you an update on our schedule. The times may be subject to change, but dates for shows are firm. Please add the following dates to your calendar. We will let you know as soon as possible if anything changes though we anticipate only a slight change, if any. We have tried not to add a lot of additional tech rehearsals and have kept this as simple as possible. We have decided NOT to hold an extended rehearsal this Saturday (Halloween) at the venue and will be holding regular rehearsal at Spark instead. Tech rehearsals will be held next weekend at the venue.
Inclement Weather Plan:
In the likely event that we will have rain or mud during the run of our show, we will be holding the show at Spark. Masks will be required for audience members and patrons will be admitted at 50% capacity. Each cast will have a tech rehearsal both at Spark and at the outdoor venue.
*Please keep in mind that this show is Into the Woods IN THE WOODS. This means that there will be bugs, humidity, dirt, mud, and even porta potties! Think “camping under the stars” but with a show! It is going to be magical but we need attitudes and expectations that meet this creative challenge. Take your allergy medicine and wear bug spray!

Costume Basics:
Because this show will be outside in the elements, we need all actors to wear character boots. Character boots need to look timeless and not modern in style. Spark has a few pair of boots we may be able to find to fit actors who do not have or are not able to find their own. If you have a pair of boots, please bring them on Saturday so that we can see if they will work. These shoes will get muddy/dirty. The stepsisters and Stepmother will need to wear black boots. We want to dress these up by lacing them with satin ribbon. We will be experimenting with this. We have been successful in the past at finding boots at Family Thrift, Goodwill, and Walmart at an inexpensive price.

Please Read: We are genuinely excited to bring this creative vision to life. We are thrilled with the talent and are able to have two full casts for this show. Please note that it is required that you are also enrolled in a skill based class in addition to this show. This includes both skill-based theatre classes, music, art, or dance classes. You will receive 20% off your skill based class for being in this production. We will go in and adjust the rate of your class after you have accepted your role. We will hold a music rehearsal this Saturday from 12:30-3:30. We will be spreading out in the theatre and will require face shields and/or masks for this rehearsal since we will all be singing. Rehearsals will be on Saturdays between 12:30-3:30. In the future, we may have specific call times to limit numbers in the rehearsal space. We will send out information each week after rehearsal for call times for the coming week. We are now offering a theatre workshop before rehearsal so that those of you that live far away can enroll and take class and attend rehearsal back-to-back. I will include information for that class underneath the cast list. We CANNOT WAIT to start creating with you all!
