It’s SHOWTIME!

It's SHOWTIME!  We are so excited for your kids to show off everything that they have been working on for this semester.  We have a few important details to go over to make our day run smoothly.

Things to remember:

  • Please feed your child a healthy breakfast and lunch before they come to rehearsal tomorrow.

  • Send your child with a snack that is not messy ie: goldfish crackers, lunchables, fruit snacks, apple slices, cheese sticks (No cheetos, Doritos, etc.)

  • Please bring a bag for personal items.

Drop Off Instructions:

  • Dancers need to come dressed and ready with their hair and makeup done at drop off.

  • If you are coming to watch the show, please drop your child off in room A before you pick up your tickets.  We do not need them to be early because they will be waiting backstage during the ballet. We are projecting the ballet into the dance room so that the girls can watch.   Spark cannot be responsible for your child prior to 1:30 p.m.  (We apologize but there is a lot going on tomorrow and we need to keep the students safe and monitored at all times).

Between Shows:

  • We will keep all of the dancers in the dance room after the show.  Please have one parent come to dance room B immediately after the first show to pick up your child. (Approx. 4:15)

  • Each student will need to leave the building after the first show and return at 6:30 p.m.  Our Flamenco ladies will be having a showcase at 5:00 p.m. and we cannot have our students or their families stay between shows. (Unless you want to come and watch the Flamenco showcase!)

VOLUNTEER HELP:

  • As a non-profit organization, we rely on volunteers.  We need adults backstage to keep our students safe.  We really appreciate the rock star volunteers that have already helped us so much!  Please SIGN UP to help tomorrow where you can.  (We cannot have siblings backstage)

Tickets:

  • We do not have tickets available for the shows tomorrow - we are sold out!!  This is a great problem to have but we will be packed and will need your patience.  Please exercise kindness as we seat everyone.

Thank you for sharing your children with us.  It has been our pleasure to work with them.  Everyone pray for things to run smoothly tomorrow and for the kids to have a great show!

March 12, 2019

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME OUT TO OUR PIZZA PARTY AND PARENT NIGHT LAST FRIDAY. THE GIRLS HAD SO MUCH FUN AT THEIR GLOW IN THE DARK DANCE PARTY! I LOVED GETTING TO MEET MANY OF YOU FOR THE FIRST TIME. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE UNABLE TO COME TO THE PARENT MEETING, I WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE A RECAP BELOW:

We started off the meeting by outlining some of the foundations of Spark Dance:

  • Art Based Program - Spark is an art based dance program that aims to train a dancer as an artist and performer. In this spirit, we will not often (if ever) participate in dance competitions. The goal of the program is that our students learn the discipline of dance, develop skill and technique, and learn to express themselves as an artist. It is also important us that they discover life-long friendships and that dancing brings joy into their lives. As our students grow and develop, they will have an opportunity to participate in all aspects of creating dance. A senior showcase will reflect their own choreography, lighting design, costume selections, etc.

  • Affordability and Accessibility- Dance can be extremely expensive. We will make every effort to keep our costs affordable. Our mission is to bring the joy and opportunity of a fine arts education to every child and to empower all to learn, create, and inspire.   -Spark Mission Statement. We continue to offer tuition assistance and scholarships on a case-by case basis.

  • Modesty- We will always strive to reflect modesty in our costumes as well as movement.

  • Excellence- Our instructors have an expectation of excellence from our students. We train dancers to be respectful, prepared, and to work hard.

We then went on to discuss our student policies and code of conduct. You can read the full version HERE but below I will highlight a few points.
