Class Description: Come sing, dance, and act out your favorite Disney musicals. The sky is the limit in this fun- filled musical theatre class designed to teach young performers fundamental skills needed to thrive as they grow as artists. Each class will be tailored to the needs of the students as instructors draw inspiration and materials from all of the greatest Disney musicals of our time. Join us to learn new skills, meet new friends, and create some magic in this Disney Musical Review!

Musical Theatre Dance (Teens)

Class Description: For many of our students, dancing can be the most intimidating and overwhelming aspect of musical theatre. Several of our students are beginners to the world of dance and often feel lost when it comes to fundamental dance technique. This class will introduce students to the basics of dance for theatre and will familiarize them with commonly used choreography to enable them to start building dance vocabulary for future shows. We may also have a little fun in the process! Dust off those dancing shoes (or go down to fancy dancer and get you a pair) and come join us once a week to untangle those two left feet.

Reader’s Theatre

Class Description: In this class, students will develop reading and writing comprehension through the magic of theatre. Readers learn to act out readings so that the audience can visualize stories through facial expressions, gestures, and voice inflation. Students will discover a love for literature and improve reading comprehension by creatively bringing the words on the page to life!

Characterization

Class Description: This class is designed for students to learn, explore and apply different acting techniques used for developing the emotional and physical arc of a character in a musical or play. Each student will choose or be assigned a character from a play or musical of their liking.
Course Objectives:
To explore the use of “auto drama” (will be explained in class) for understanding character back story and transitions from one song/scene to the next when working on a role.
To explore historical research when preparing a role.
To understand the value and significance of character journaling for role work.
To continue to learn & apply “the basics” of acting. (text analysis, musical clues, moment before, intention, stakes, consonants and importance of personalization)
To have less fear and more understanding of approaching and sustaining the arc of a character in a musical or play on their own.

Lion King Experience

Class Description: The Lion King Experience features a fun curriculum designed to introduce students to a wide range of theatrical skills. This program has been developed to give young artists all the tools they need to EXPLORE, CREATE and EXPERIENCE the arts. Play the traditional African djembe drums, learn choreography and music from the show, get to know the characters, and more! Join us once a week in the Pride Lands of the African Savannah.

Acting Skills

Class Description:
Acting Skills for ages 11-14 Learn the fundamentals of Acting in this fun and creative class where we will imagine, create, and perform! Discover the tools of the actor through theatre and improv games, storytelling, and learn to create unique characters through scene and monologue work. We will create a Showcase that will be recorded during our final class.
Acting Skills for Teens Acting Skills for Teens is designed for students ages 14+ to help expand their skills in acting technique, improvisation, and performing. This class will purposefully introduce the tools of the actor through various scene and monologue work, authentic character development, and improv games. Through intensive performance-based classes, the student will build and refine their acting skills, while learning how to best prepare for any audition or performance. We will create a Final Showcase that will be recorded on the last day of class.

Theatre Workshop

Class Description: This class is a comprehensive workshop that will cover the many facets of theatre including, musical theatre, acting skills, basic vocal technique, character development, improvisation, scene work, and more! Students will be lead by our resident director, Miss Dana Cretsinger, and will also have the opportunity to learn from several guest artists working in the industry.
